3 v 3 STREET SOCCER GAME RULES:
FIFA Rules Apply Except For Those Noted Below: Field Dimensions: 30 x 20 yard fields. The goals are 3 feet high and 6 feet wide.
Game Duration:
2, 10 minute halves- lighting round for first game, 2, 12 minute halves for regular play, and championship game is 2, 15 minute halves- all halftime is 1 minute long and transition/ warm up is 5 minutes maximum but as short as 2 minutes.
Play is measured on a calendar clock (with the exception of injury time, maximum 1 minute stoppage time) therefore, when the whistle plays and team with possession is not on field or ready, opposing team may take the ball and play. There is no stoppage time when waiting for a team to show. Should this occur, the Team Coordinator will award a win to the team that fielded the proper amount.
A coin toss will determine direction and possession of the ball before the start of the game. The team winning the coin toss will choose which goal to defend and the other team will kick-off. Games tied after regulation play shall end in a tie, except in the playoffs. Any team not present and ready to play at their scheduled game time and field will forfeit the game. The referee will use his or her discretion to determine when forfeiture should occur. There are no timeouts in 3 V 3 games and injury time is added at a maximum of 1 minute additional play time.
Uniforms:
If both teams are wearing the same color, a coin flip in pool play will determine which team must wear a contrasting uniform. All teams must carry two sets of different jerseys or uniforms. In playoffs, the higher seed will have the option. Teams must bring contrasting colors in the event of same color uniforms. Tournament Director will designate and referee must approve players wearing proactive casts or protective devices of corrective eyewear. Hard casts will not be allowed. Braces with exposed metal will not be allowed. No jewelry will be allowed, including earrings of any type, rope necklaces and bracelets. The only exception will be players wearing medical bracelets.
Substitution:
Substitutions may be on the fly, but must be done once substituted player has completely left the field. Should a player entering be on the field at the time the exiting player is, he/she will be called for a penalty and the other team will take possession. At no time will a player enter the field by jumping the retaining walls. If this is done, a mandatory two minute penalty would be award to offending player- team disciplines will not be allowed to place another player on the field, they must play down, unless in the event of an ejection, in which the whole team get ejected. Substitutions due to player injury may be made at any time at the discretion of the referee.
There are NO OFF sides in “3 V 3 Street Soccer!
No Slide Tackling:
Due to the playing on concrete surface- their is absolutely no slide tackling or playing on the ground. Playing on the ground is constituted as one knee touching. Players must stay upright and “on their feet” and may not make inappropriate contact with an opposing player.
Goal Scoring:
A goal may only be scored from a touch (kick, header or deflection) made from within the opposing team’s half of the field and must completely cross the line. If a player kicks the ball from their defensive half across the midfield line and the ball hits another player (offensive or defensive) and the ball goes in the goal, a goal will be awarded. There is no scoring from the offensive player's side of their field. The ball must cross the mid line by a player, not in flight or in motion, in order for a goal to count.
The Goal Box:
The goal box is eight wide by six foot long and situated directly in front of the goal. The goals are 3 feet high by 6 feet wide. There is no ball contact allowed within the goal box by a "keeper" with their hands- there are no goal keepers in 3v3 soccer, however, any player may pass through the goal box. Any infraction occurring in the goal box will be treated as normal, with a free kick awarded to the fouled team. Only one player may defend the goal and may act as the "keeper" however, no use of the hands are allowed. after contact has been made and the ball has crossed the goal line, all play may resume.
The Ball Exiting the Field:
If a ball leaves the playing field and does not touch the net, it will be retrieved but a new ball will be put in play by the official as extra balls are kept on hand. There is no stoppage time that will exceed 1 minute. Ball is tossed into the favor of the team that was rewarded the ball, at no time can a defending player encroach on the ball until the player touches it.
If a ball hits the netting, it is considered out of bounds, and is set on the ground and considered a free kick. A ball that hits the net behind the goal, it is considered either a goal kick or a corner kick and will be set on the ground and played appropriately.
A goal kick is considered a goal kick if it hits the net behind the goal and in the goal box area. The ball is set down and a player on the receiving side will kick it and put it into play. The same goes with a corner kick. For a corner kick, opposing team must be behind the arch in order for play to commence.
Board checking:
A player may not deliberately check a player or push a player into the boards. The boards are not to be used as sturdy boards to lean upon or use as a support, so players being thrown, pushed, or slammed onto the boards may experience injury. Any player seen deliberately and with malice, checking a player, will be given a yellow card, and if necessary, a red card. A red card ejects your player and the whole team from competition play wit no refunds. Tthe boards are not mean to take an impact such as that- they are to be used for bounce backs and for the fans to observe the game up close- any deliberate checking will be a foul and possible sanctions could result.
No ties in normal play as a MLS style PK situation occurs- best of 3. Ball is placed at hash mark- player has 3 seconds to release the ball in order to score- no keeper by player- can't use their hands and can't leave the goal zone. Participants of this can only be those on the field at time of end play.
Playoff Overtime:
Playoff overtime shall consist of a 2-minute “golden goal” overtime period with a coin toss to decide kick off/direction of play. The first team to score in overtime is the winner. If no team has scored in the 2-minute overtime, the winner shall be decided by an additional "golden goal" which will be played in a two minute long game. Should no one score at this time, a shootout will crown a winner. The three players from each team on the field at the end of the overtime period, will take a rotation of penalty kicks alternating teams with each kick, with the higher scoring team winning after the first round. If the score remains tied after the first round of penalty kicks, the same 3 players will alternate in the same order in a sudden death penalty kick showdown until one team scores unanswered. If one team has received a red card during the game and finishes with 2 players on the field, a remaining roster player (other than the red carded player) may be chosen to kick in the rotation of penalty kicks. If the red-carded player is the last remaining roster player, one of the two field players may kick twice.
Penalty Kicks:
Shall be awarded if, in the referee’s opinion, a scoring opportunity was nullified by an infraction (the infraction does not automatically result in a red card). Should a player deliberately use their hands to stop a ball from going in the goal or to disrupt a play, a red card will be issued. Absolutely no deliberate hand ball will be allowed. The official has the right to award a red card based on their perception of "deliberate". A direct kick will be awarded to the team who did not receive the infraction and the ball is placed on the dot on the half circle. A "keeper" may be in the box but may not use their hands. All players must be on the outer side of the half circle and may not touch the ball or enter the area of play until contact has been made by the "keeper".
Hand Ball:
Deliberate handling of the ball that denies the opposing team a goal or an obvious goal-scoring opportunity will result in a penalty kick being awarded and the player committing the foul will be shown a red card and ejected from the game.
Players must sign or resign a Liability Waiver Form- all players on a team must have that signed prior to play- no sign- no playing time- period.
Roster checks- all players must check in with the Team Coordinator prior to stepping on the field and must be checked off by them. This is to ensure that there are no roster changes or stacking of teams. Your roster is final at the start of your first game. Any roster adjustments will be grounds for immediate disqualification.
Private Property= Private prosecution for fighting, harassment and assault or disorderly conduct- punishable by arrest on premise.- No fighting at all, even if you are retaliating- all teams involved will be ejected. This is a non-negotiable and is not up for deliberation. There is a unbendable zero tolerance for fighting.
Whistle Play- all games start on whistle and if you do not field your team, play continues possibly resulting in a disadvantage to you. Once the whistle blows, you must have the mandatory 3 players on the field by game time or it is a forfeit.
Absolutely NO ALCOHOL CONSUMPTION BY ANY PLAYERS STILL PARTICIPATING IN THE TOURNEY- if your team is exited early due to elimination, you are permitted to drink. Any players drinking while they are still in tournament play, will be ejected from the tournament. This is to lesson the problems that could occur because of the effects of drinking. We will have alcohol monitors patrolling the beer garden with an active bracket ensuring that you are not still in tournament play.
No slide tackling is not permitted and is though of as a dumb move on your part if you do it. A knee touching the ground constitutes a slide- just like indoor rules.
Goals can not be made on Offensive team's side- it must cross the center line.
No keepers or "Angel Guards"- hovering over goal- no use of hands at all. This is similar to the 3 second rule in basketball,a player can not deliberately guard the goal or hover in the archway.
If a foul occurs in the goal zone- all players must clear the zone until the ball has been struck and play resumes.
Red card to be given out for deliberate hand balls or last man rule is in effect. Red cards are viewed seriously as we are trying to maintain the spirit of the game. Any team receiving multiple red cards will be ejected from the tourney. Please mind the spirit of the game and the cause that we are supporting.
Yellow Card - Player Caution:
Players that commit serious fouls, in the discretion of the referee, will be cautioned and shown a yellow card. A 1 minute penalty will occur whereupon the player may not enter field until the official permits them to. No substitutes are allowed on the field while player who committed the infraction is serving their penalty. Players that receive two yellow cards in one game will be shown a red card and ejected from the game. (Refer to Red Card rules). Any player accumulating three yellow cards during a tournament will automatically be suspended for their next game (no exceptions).
Red Card - Player Ejection and Team Ejection:
Players that commit very serious fouls or show continual disobedience, in the discretion of the referee, will be shown a red card and ejected from the game, with the team following- WITH NO REFUND FOR GAMES NOT PLAYED. Descent or unsportsmanlike conduct or harassment of the official will result in an immediate suspension from the game as well as the team, and will be reviewed to see if it will result from a expulsion from the tournament. Players that are red carded need to leave the immediate playing area, including the spectator and team bench areas, as well as the tournament property. If a player receives a red card for fighting, they will be ejected from all tournament play and banned from tournament grounds for the duration of the event, and may be subject to local and state laws regarding violence and fighting- all involved must leave the property or will be subject to removal by local authorities.
Coach/Parent/Spectator Ejection:
Referees or Tournament Directors also have the right to eject a coach, parent or spectator from the game or field of play area for continual disobedience or as a result of an incident that warrants ejection. Coaches, parents or spectators who are ejected by a referee or tournament director must leave the field and area around the field before play will continue. If a coach, parent or spectator refuses to leave, the game must be forfeited in favor of the opposing team. If the Coach, parent, or spectator refuse to leave, they will be removed from the facility by local law enforcement.
3 Yard Rule:
In all dead-ball situations, defending players must stand at least three yards away from the ball. If the defensive player’s goal is closer than 3 yards, the ball shall be played 3 yards from the goal box, in line with the place of the free kick. Kick-Ins: The ball shall be kicked into play from the sideline instead of thrown in. The ball is considered in play when the ball is touched with a foot and moves one full rotation. The ball must enter the field of play to be considered a complete kick-in.
Indirect Kicks:
All dead-ball kicks (kick-ins, free kicks, kick-offs) are indirect with the exception of corner/penalty kicks.
Goal Kicks:
May be taken from any point on the defensive end line.
Kick Off:
May be taken in any direction.
Delay of Game:
Any player may be cautioned with a yellow card if it is deemed by the referee that the player is intentionally wasting time. For example, if a player intentionally kicks the ball long distances away from the playing field in order to waste time.
Game Scoring (Divisional Play):
Games will be scored as follows: Win = 3 points; Tie = 1 point ; Loss = 0 points. A forfeited game is scored as a 6-0 win for the team that is present. Referees will provide the winning coach or captain a final scored game sheet which must be turned into the Tournament Results Table immediately following the game. Forfeits:
Any team forfeiting two games during divisional play will be removed from the tournament. Any team forfeiting any game during the playoffs will be eliminated from the tournament.
Tie- Breakers:
For teams that are tied in points record, if one team forfeited a game, they are the lower seed.
