Number of Players & Substitutions:
  • Minimum Number of Players to Start Match: 3
  • Maximum Number of Substitutes:3
  • Unlimited Substitutions within the essence or integrity of the game
Flying Substitutions:
Substitutions may occur on the fly, but must be done once substituted player has completely left the field. Should a player entering be on the field at the time the exiting player is, he/she will be called for a penalty and the other team will take possession. At no time will a player enter the field by jumping the retaining walls. If this is done, a mandatory two minute penalty would be award to offending player- team disciplined will not be allowed to place another player on the field, they must play down. Substitutions due to player injury may be made at any time at the discretion of the referee.

There are NO OFF sides in 3v3 Street Soccer!
Foul Limit:
5-foul limit resulting in shootout for any fouls thereafter starting on the fifth foul.
No Physical/Pushing Allowed including the following:
  • Direct Kicks
  • grabbing/holding an opponent
  • punching/fighting
  • no slide tackling: Due to the playing on concrete surface- their is absolutely no slide tackling or playing on the ground. Playing on the ground is constituted as one knee touching. Players must stay upright and “on their feet” and may not make inappropriate contact with an opposing player.
  • Kicking or attempting to kick an opponent
  • tripping an opponent
  • jumping at an opponent
  • charging an opponent in a violent or dangerous manner
  • charging an opponent from behind

  • obstruction or arm bar
Goal Scoring:
CA goal may only be scored from a touch (kick, header or deflection) made from within the opposing team's half of the field and must completely cross the line. If a player kicks the ball from their defensive half across the midfield line and the ball hits another player (offensive or defensive) and the ball goes in the goal, a goal will be awarded. There is no scoring from the offensive player's side of their field. The ball must cross the mid line by a player, not in flight or in motion, in order for a goal to count (if occurs the result is an indirect free kick for the opposing team).
The Goal Box:
The goal box is eight wide by six foot long and situated directly in front of the goal. The goals are 3 feet high by 6 feet wide. There is no ball contact allowed within the goal box by a “keeper” with their hands- there are no goal keepers in 3v3 soccer, however, any player may pass through the goal box. Any infraction occurring in the goal box will be treated as normal, with a free kick awarded to the fouled team. Only one player may defend the goal and may act as the “keeper” however, no use of the hands are allowed. after contact has been made and the ball has crossed the goal line, all play may resume.
The Ball Exiting the Field:
If a ball leaves the playing field and does not touch the net, it will be retrieved but a new ball will be put in play by the official as extra balls are kept on hand. There is no stoppage time.

If a ball hits the netting, it is considered out of bounds, and is set on the ground and considered a free kick. A ball that hits the net behind the goal, it is considered either a goal kick or a corner kick and will be set on the ground and played appropriately.

A goal kick is considered a goal kick if it hits the net behind the goal and in the goal box area. The ball is set down and a player on the receiving side will kick it and put it into play. The same goes with a corner kick. For a corner kick, opposing team must be behind the arch in order for play to commence.
Board checking:
A player may not deliberately check a player or push a player into the boards. The boards are not to be used as sturdy boards to lean upon or use as a support, so players being thrown, pushed, or slammed onto the boards may experience injury. Any player seen deliberately and with malice, checking a player, will be given a yellow card, and if necessary, a red card.
Playoff Overtime:
Playoff overtime shall consist of a 3-minute “golden goal” overtime period with a coin toss to decide kick off/direction of play. The first team to score in overtime is the winner. If no team has scored in the 3-minute overtime, the winner shall be decided by an additional “golden goal” which will be played in a two minute long game. Should no one score at this time, a shootout will crown a winner. The three players from each team on the field at the end of the overtime period, will take a rotation of penalty kicks alternating teams with each kick, with the higher scoring team winning after the first round. If the score remains tied after the first round of penalty kicks, the same 3 players will alternate in the same order in a sudden death penalty kick showdown until one team scores unanswered. If one team has received a red card during the game and finishes with 2 players on the field, a remaining roster player (other than the red carded player) may be chosen to kick in the rotation of penalty kicks. If the red-carded player is the last remaining roster player, one of the two field players may kick twice.
Referee:
Duties are to enforce the game laws/rules, keep a record of all incidents before, during and after the game, stop the game when deemed necessary, caution or expel players guilty of misconduct, violent conduct or other ungentlemanly/unladylike behavior, allow no others to enter the field not on a team currently playing, stop game to have injured players removed, signal for game to be restarted after every stoppage, keep abreast of official time clock, and ultimately regulate the game to a high standard.
Penalty Kicks:
Shall be awarded if, in the referee's opinion, a scoring opportunity was nullified by an infraction (the infraction does not automatically result in a red card). Should a player deliberately use their hands to stop a ball from going in the goal or to disrupt a play, a red card will be issued. Absolutely no deliberate hand ball will be allowed. The official has the right to award a red card based on their perception of “deliberate”. A direct kick will be awarded to the team who did not receive the infraction and the ball is placed on the dot on the half circle. A “keeper” may be in the box but may not use their hands. All players must be on the outer side of the half circle and may not touch the ball or enter the area of play until contact has been made by the “keeper”.
Hand Ball:
Deliberate handling of the ball that denies the opposing team a goal or an obvious goal-scoring opportunity will result in a penalty kick being awarded and the player committing the foul will be shown a red card and ejected from the game.
Yellow Card - Player Caution:
Players that commit serious fouls, in the discretion of the referee, will be cautioned and shown a yellow card. A 1 minute penalty will occur whereupon the player may not enter field until the official permits them to. No substitutes are allowed on the field while player who committed the infraction is serving their penalty. Players that receive two yellow cards in one game will be shown a soft-red card and ejected from the game. (Refer to Red Card rules). Any player accumulating three yellow cards during a tournament will automatically be suspended for their next game (no exceptions).
Red Card - Player Ejection:
Players that commit very serious fouls or show continual disobedience, in the discretion of the referee, will be shown a red card and ejected from the game. Descent or unsportsmanlike conduct or harassment of the official will result in an immediate suspension from the game, and will be reviewed to see if it will result from a expulsion from the tournament. If the player receiving the red card was on the field of play at the time, the team must complete the entire game a player short. Otherwise, the team may continue with 3 aside using their remaining one or two players. Any player receiving a red card will automatically be suspended from their next game (no exceptions). Players that are red carded need to leave the immediate playing area, including the spectator and team bench areas. If a player receives a red card for fighting, they will be ejected from all tournament play and banned from tournament grounds for the duration of the event, and may be subject to local and state laws regarding violence and fighting.
Coach/Parent/Spectator Ejection:
Referees or tournament directors also have the right to eject a coach, parent or spectator from the game or field of play area for continual disobedience or as a result of an incident that warrants ejection. Coaches, parents or spectators who are ejected by a referee or tournament director must leave the field and area around the field before play will continue. If a coach, parent or spectator refuses to leave, the game must be forfeited in favor of the opposing team.
Five Yard Rule:
In all dead-ball situations, defending players must stand at least five yards away from the ball. If the defensive player's goal is closer than five yards, the ball shall be played five yards from the goal box, in line with the place of the free kick.
Kick-Ins:
The ball shall be kicked into play from the sideline instead of thrown in. The ball is considered in play when the ball is touched with a foot and moves one full rotation. The ball must enter the field of play to be considered a complete kick-in.
Indirect Kicks:
All dead-ball kicks (kick-ins, free kicks, kick-offs) are indirect with the exception of corner/penalty kicks.
Goal Kicks:
May be taken from any point on the defensive end line.
Kick Off:
May be taken in any direction.
Free Kick:
  • Types: Direct and Indirect
  • Kick must be taken within 4 seconds of the ball being placed down for play, if violated it is a turnover to the other team where the 4 second rule will apply.
  • Restriction: The ball must travel the distance of its own circumference, and the kicker cannot touch the ball again until it has been played by another player
Delay of Game:
Any player may be cautioned with a yellow card if it is deemed by the referee that the player is intentionally wasting time. For example, if a player intentionally kicks the ball long distances away from the playing field in order to waste time.
Game Scoring (Divisional Play):
Games will be scored as follows: Win = 3 points; Tie = 1 point ; Loss = 0 points. A forfeited game is scored as a 6-0 win for the team that is present. Referees will provide the winning coach or captain a final scored game sheet which must be turned into the Tournament Results Table immediately following the game.
Forfeits:
Any team forfeiting two games during divisional play will be removed from the tournament, without reimbursement. Any team forfeiting any game during the playoffs will be eliminated from the tournament, without reimbursement.
Tie - Breakers:
For teams that are tied in points record, if one team forfeited a game, they are the lower seed. For teams tied in record where one team received a forfeit, games against the teams forfeiting are not counted when figuring the tiebreaker. In pool play, ties between three or more teams will be broken by

(1) head to head results between the tied teams
(2) goal difference in head to head games
(3) goals against in head to head games

(4) goal difference in pool play games

(5) goals against in pool play games

(6) shootout or coin toss based on time limitations to be determined by tournament director.

Ties between two teams in record whom have tied each other will be broken by

(1) goal difference in pool play games

(2) goals against pool play games

(3) shootout. Each tie breaking criterion is carried out to its fullest in determining the seeds in ties between 3 games or more teams
